Cardinal Bo of Myanmar (Burma) was the very special guest of the Salesian community this weekend, His Eminence delivered an inspirational address on his rich and diverse experience of living and working in one of the most oppressive regimes in the world until the country began to move to a new found democratic system recently. Cardinal Bo was ordained a priest of the Salesians of Don Bosco on 9 April 1976. He was appointed as prefect of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lashio in 1986. Four years later, he was consecrated Bishop of Lashio. In 1996, he was transferred to the Diocese of Pathein. Those of our students who attend the Parish were very moved by the Cardinal's powerful and compassionate words, which fitted in perfectly with our Advanced Citizenship programme.
