It was a race to the finish for our Year 8 Design Technology students yesterday, when they took part in the ‘Squashed Tomato Challenge’. The project highlights the overcoming of issues with food transportation in third world countries. Students designed and made their own pulley cart systems using only card, string and tape to transport tomatoes to their teammates on the other side. Team PMTJ were victorious with 54 tomatoes transported in two minutes, leaving last placers ‘Team Fried Chicken’ to clean up the squashed tomato casualties! Thanks to Ms Williamson for the story.
