St John Bosco College in Battersea has been named amongst the UK’s best performing schools in figures published by the Department for Education this week.
The Roman Catholic school, based near Battersea Square, achieved a progress 8 score of +0.6 for its overall GCSE results putting it amongst the top 5% of schools nationally.
There was more good news for the school, recently judged outstanding by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Southwark, with the progress scores of children from disadvantaged backgrounds at St John Bosco putting the school in the top 1% of schools across the country for these students.
Headteacher Paul Dunne commented: “Our outstanding progress is down to the hard work of our students supported by great teaching and a fantastic ethos. We believe that all children can achieve great things, regardless of their background or starting point and these results demonstrate that."
St John Bosco student Laura Pereira said: “I’m really grateful to my teachers for helping in me and believing in me. I was so proud of how I did and I owe that to my teachers."
