Virtus et Sapientia Scholarship

The Governors of St John Bosco College are delighted to announce the launch of the Virtus et Sapientia Scholarship for students entering year 12 or year 13 at St John Bosco College, who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement in their studies or who have made an exceptional contribution to the life of the school while maintaining high academic standards.

Up to ten scholarships will be available and will have a value of between £500 and £1000.  These will be awarded on a case-by-case basis.

For any student joining year 12 at St John Bosco College in September 2024 who wishes to apply, awards will be awarded according to the following criteria:

  • Attainment of at least 8 GCSEs at Grade 7 or above, demonstrating a consistent track record of academic excellence and a minimum attendance rate of 90% in the previous academic year 1

Or

  • A demonstrably excellent contribution to the life and ethos of the school community and the attainment of at least 8 GCSEs at grade 5 or above and the same attendance rate as above.

For any student joining year 13 at St John Bosco College in September 2024 who wishes to apply, awards will be based on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Attainment of at least 2 A grades2 in their year 12 PPEs and a consistent track record of academic excellence in year 12, with a minimum attendance rate of 90% in the previous academic year,
    Or
  • A demonstrably excellent contribution to the life and ethos of the school community and the attainment of at least 2 B grades at grade 5 or above and the same attendance rate as above.

To apply for the scheme, students must write a personal statement outlining their academic journey thus far, the contribution that they’ve made to the school community and their aspirations for the future.  This should be up to 500 words in length.

The window for applications is open from A-Level results day until the end of September each year and these should be submitted to Ms Browning, Head of Sixth Form, by email, mbrowning@sjbc.wandsworth.sch.uk

Governors will consider each application on its merits and award scholarships to those who best meet the requirements.  Please note that the governing body’s decision will be final with no right of appeal.

Sixth form scholarship recipients, who were awarded academic scholarships in recognition of their outstanding achievements in Years 11 and 12. The scholarships were presented by the Chair of Governors, celebrating their exceptional academic success.
